Five minutes with a measuring tape saves you an exchange cycle. Here is exactly how to measure for a Pashmaal ready-to-wear suit — the same method our team uses.

What you need

A soft measuring tape (or a string and ruler) and a kameez that already fits you well.

How to measure: step by step

Step 1 — Lay your best-fitting kameez flat

Measuring a garment that fits is more reliable than measuring your body — it already includes the ease you like.

Step 2 — Chest

Measure straight across from underarm seam to underarm seam, then double it. Compare with the chest column below.

Step 3 — Waist

Measure across the narrowest point of the kameez and double it.

Step 4 — Hip

Measure across the widest point near the hem and double it.

Step 5 — Shirt length

Measure from the shoulder seam (next to the collar) straight down to the hem.

Step 6 — Compare with the Pashmaal chart

Size Chest Shirt Length Waist Hip Trouser
S 36–38″ 42–43″ 30–32″ 38–40″ 38″
M 40–42″ 43–44″ 34–36″ 42–44″ 38.5″
L 44–46″ 44–45″ 38–40″ 46–48″ 39″
XL 48–50″ 45–46″ 42–44″ 50–52″ 39.5″

Step 7 — Between sizes? Size up

Lawn and viscose drape better with a little room, and a slightly relaxed kameez is easier to wear than a tight one. Trouser fitting also relaxes with each size.
